Texts About Language

The system publishes a collection of texts documenting the history of ideas and practices concerning the standardization of the Lithuanian language from the 1960s to the present. It contains more than 1,000 texts of various genres from key Lithuanian-language standardization and language-culture publications: the Lithuanian Language Section’s journal, “Mūsų kalba”, “Gimtoji kalba”, and “Kalbos kultūra”. It also includes texts from cultural media and various online sources. Most texts were written by linguists involved in language standardization; a smaller number are publications by language users and public figures expressing opinions on language standardization. Some texts present criticism of Lithuanian language policy or language standardizers. The database is continuously supplemented with new texts.
