In Situ Soil Temperature Database

The In Situ Soil Temperature Database is an initiative launched at the end of 2018. It stores data on soil, soil surface and air temperature at a height of 15 cm, as well as soil moisture parameters. Measurements are taken in situ at 15-minute intervals using specially adapted data loggers. The loggers are distributed throughout the country in natural or semi-natural meadow communities. Compared with traditional data collected by weather stations, these data enable more accurate assessment of climate change and its effects on plant communities. The records can be used to understand and explain the dependence of global ecological processes on microclimatic conditions.
