The network consists of permanent Global Positioning System (GPNS) stations located throughout the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, a data transmission network and a data processing centre where GPNS satellite signal errors are calculated and eliminated in real time. The LitPOS network operates using virtual reference station technology. This technology is based on installing GPNS reference (base) stations at points on the Earth's surface whose coordinates are precisely known in the required coordinate system. Measurement data from GPNS reference stations are aggregated and systematized, and GPNS corrections are transmitted to users through telemetry communication channels. A GPNS user's position is determined accurately and reliably by receiving already processed and modelled signals from the reference stations.
